Double Page Spread Analysis

This main image of Ozzy Osbourne is placed quite central of the double page and takes up nearly a third of the page, going over both pages. His gaze is directly towards the reader inviting them in or more ordering them in with his stern eyes. The pointing of the finger makes the reader feell like Ozzy is pointing directly at them and telling them to read his story. This works really well as the reader feels special and almost like the only one he is talking to.

He is dressed all in black which suits the genre of his music and we associate his type of rock music with dark colours and not so much bright 'soft' colours such as baby blue and pink for example. The clothing and accessories enhance his genre further.

Drop caps, which is seen in most music magazines.

An image from a gig he has played at. This works really nicely.

Pull Quote, different to most other pull quotes but suits his personality. The block capitals and white colour font looks well over the black of his clothes.

Page furniture/ design elements are interesting, I like the fact it looks ike scribbles from a pen around the whole edge of the double page spread, it suits the genre of rock as I would associate rock with quite laid back and 'don't care'.

Design element consistent all around the page.

Nice neat laid out columns.

Double Page Spread analysis 2

The main image takes up half of the double page spread making her the dominant figure and your attention is drawn straight to her. I like the fact that she is in black and white, it makes her look sophisticated which suits her genre of music and her herself. Her make -up is not as heavy as some of the artist on a kerrang magazine

Pull quote is black and bold which stands out against the background. The black suits the style of the page as the whole double page spread is black and white. It takes up a lot of room on the page making the image of her and the pull quote the main dominant pieces on the page that the audiences eyes are naturally drawn to.

Drops cap used, as most double page spread music magazines have.

Again it is black showing consistency. It takes up 10 drop downs which is quite big for a drop cap however I feel it looks sophisticated and suits the double page spread and its genre. The same font is used as the pull quote.

Only one paragraph of writing and not in columns. This is quite different but works well with the double page spread.
