Firstly I learnt alot about taking photos, this includes actually holding the camera at the right angles and positions. I learnt how to take different shots such as close ups, medium close ups, long shots, medium shots, and extreme close ups. My preliminary task photo wasn't very successful I didn't get a very good angle however my final front page photo I felt was very successful, I learnt that most magazines use close ups or medium close ups and so I felt my magazine worked well. 

 

When taking my photos for my preliminary task I didn't need to think much about the clothing or make-up or accessories as it was a formal school magazine and the models were already dressed for me to represent the school. However when taking photos for my music magazine I had to do alot of research into making sure I knew how much make-up my artist would wear and the clothing too.

 

I felt more confident with my music magazine photo as I had learnt how to really use in-depth photoshop skills which helped me to enhance her face using the brightness and contrast tool and I could use the patch and spot healing tool to get rid of any blemishes. However when i was making my preliminary task, as it was so early on in the course I hadn't really got to grips with photoshop, not as well as I had by the time it come to making my music magazine.

 

This also applys to my contents pages of both too. On my music magazine contents I could edit my photos emensly. I also learnt that you probably need more than just one photo on your contents page which I have shown in my final music magazine contents page.

 

One huge thing I have learnt is time-management. At first i found making my preliminary task was stressful however compared to my music magazine it was no where near as stressful. I found having deadlines really helped me however I still managed to find it difficult sticking to them.

It is importamt when maing something as intense as this to stick to the deadlines as they really do help you out, however I have learnt my lesson and intend to stick to any further deadlines.

 

All of the technologies that I spoke about in evaluation question 6, such as Photoshop, InDesign, Premier Pro, Quickime etc, have shown how much I have learnt from my preliminary task to now. I have learnt various different skills that have truly helped me to create the final magazine I did.

 

From the preliminary task to my final music magazine I learnt alot about the actual computer itself. I found the apple macs really confusing to start with and didn't know where anything was which was quite annoying, however I now really love the apple macs and they really are so useful especially with a course like media. 

 

Over the entirety of my AS media course it has been stressful, I feel I have gained more confidence in myself and taught myself alot. I am really proud of how far I have come from my preliminary task which I felt wasn't that good to my final music magazine which I am very happy with. I have worked alot over this year and learnt so many skills that I can take on with me further. I feel from the vast skills I have learnt over the year, if I was to go back and make my preliminary task now I think it would be 100 times better. Despite being a stressful year, I have really enjoyed creating my music magazine and am extremely proud with my final pieces.
